بعد توقف منذ أكثر من 4 أشهر، لأسباب الضغوطات الدراسية لأعضاء شيرها ثم الإجازة الصيفية
نخبركم أن شيّرها ستعود قريباً وبحماس أكبر من خلال تواصل المشيّرين في اللقاء الأسبوعي
وكل عام وأنتم بخير

هذا الكرسي هو أول إنتاج عملي من شيّرها وهو ثمرة الاجتماع الماضي. كرسي بسيط جداً ولكن كلنا سعداء برؤيته صامداً يتحمل أثقل الأوزان! تحية لكل من ساعد في تصميمه وتكوينه.

“The Chair” is Shayirha’s first phyisical offspring. A very simple, yet strong, chair that has resisted collaps in the face of the heviest KFUPM weights =)

Thanks to Mustafa Khurd for organizing this week’s Shayirha meeting, which was focused around topics of practical nature such as making structural studies and indoor furniture out of unused cardboard. Also among the discussed topics were “Softimage” and “Sketchbook pro” software, “World of Goo” the game, and how to present like Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple inc.

لدينا إيمان كبير في شيّرها بأن التصميم شيء رائع، ولهذا يجب مشاركته مع الجميع. هذا الشغف بالتصميم هو أساس شيّرها ويعتمد تماماً على مشاركة الفرد في اقتراح الموضوعات وكذلك أيضاً مناقشتها. لهذا السبب نتمنى من عشاق التصميم جميعاً ألا يترددوا في إضافة أي موضوع يرونه جديراً بالمشاركة هذا في هذه التدوينة.

نرجو إضافة تعليق في هذه التدوينة لإضافة أي موضوع تجدونه ملائماً ولا تنسوا شروطنا الثلاثة البسيطة:

1.       مقدم العرض لابد أن يكون “مهتماً” بصدق في محتوى ما يريد تقديمه.

2.       العرض لابد أن يكون في قالب يقبل “النقاش“. بمعنى آخر، لا نريد مزيداً من المحاضرات المملة.

3.       أخيراً، “التصميم بكل أنواعه” هو موضوعنا الوحيد، يعني لا تجي وتقعد تسولف وش أحسن محل كبسة بالخبر!

هذه القوانين تنطبق على من يحضرون الاجتماع في الجامعة، وكذلك الذي يقترحون الموضوعات هنا على الإنترنت. سيتم اختيار الموضوعات بالترشيح ومن ثم مناقشتها في الاجتماع.

Salamu Alaykum,

At Shayirha we have a strong believe that design is great, and therefore should be shared with *everyone*. This passion for sharing is at the core of Shayirha and is reliant solely on the individual’s participation in both suggesting topics of discussion and in actually discussing them. As such we ask of every design lover out there with a topic that he or she would really like to discuss to come forward with it in this post.

Please comment to this post with whatever topic you think is fitting while keeping in mind our three simple rules:

1. The presenter has to be genuinely *interested* in the topic he chooses to share.
2. The presentation has to be carried out in a *participatory discussion* format, in other words “no more boring lectures !!”.
3. Finally, *design in all of its forms* is our one and only topic, so please no discussions about what you think is the best “kabsah” shop in Khobar ya jma3ah =p

These rules apply to both people who are attending our weekly meeting at KFUPM and for those of you who would like to suggest a topic and discuss it online. Topics will be selected by group nomination and then discussed in our meetings, followed by being posted to the blog for further discuss by those who were not able to attend our meeting, so that everybody can share the learning experience!!

Our latest Shayirha meeting, which was coordinated by Thamer Alshehab - bless his soul -  was focused around its cental peice which was a video of Santiago Calatrava’s TGV station in Lyon, France. This week’s session was spent discussing the building and examining Calatrava’s design approach in general.

كانت (شيّرها 01) والتي نظمها “سعد السلمان” أول نقاش حقيقي لشيّرها، وكان من ضمن الموضوعات التي تناولناها، كيف تبحث في جوجل، المعماري “حسن فتحي”، استخدام المواد التراثية/العصرية، وأخيراً أسلوب “De Stijl” في الفنون والعمارة.

Shayirha 01, which was coordinated by Saad Alsalman, was our first real group discussion meeting. Amongst the topics discussed were the work of Egyptian architect Hassan Fat’hy the use of local/traditional materials in construction, and the De Stijl movement.

“شيّرها 00″ هي الحلقة التعريفية التي اجتمعنا فيها للمرة الأولى يوم الاثنين 09 مارس 2009 داخل مبنى 19 في جامعة البترول. الهدف الأساسي من هذا الاجتماع هو أن نناقش هيكلة الموضوعات داخل شيّرها وكذلك هيكلة التنظيم.

جهز الفريق عرض تجريبي لما سيكون عليه الحال في شيّرها، يعرض مختلفة الأصناف المقترحة للحضور، ثم يستقبل الاقتراحات من الموجودين.

Asalamu Alykom,

Shayirha 00, also known as The Pilot, was our group’s first official meeting, which was held on Monday 09.03.09  in KFUPM’s lovely building 19. The main goal of this meeting was to discuss the different discussion topics and the organizational structuring of the group.

The group prepared an example presentation (pilot) to show the different topics and then discuss their relevance to the group.
